How do I transfer shares into my Margin Loan?
If you wish to transfer shares into your Margin Loan - either to increase its lending value or to cover a buffer or margin call - please check first that the registration details on those shares are IDENTICAL to those on your Margin Loan. If there are any differences the transfer will be rejected.
The transfer process differs according to where the shares you are transferring are held, as follows.
If your shares are currently held on a CommSec Trading Account, you can either:
Submit an online request:
- Navigate to Portfolio and select your Margin Loan account
- Under the Transfers tab select Transfer Shares and follow the prompts
Email us at marginloan@commsec.com.au:
Please include your CommSec Equity Account Number, Name and Address, and a list of the shares and units you would like transferred to your Margin Loan
Phone one our Account Managers on 13 17 09 (+61 2 9115 1402) - available Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, Sydney time and request a transfer.
Submit an online request:
Log into your account and navigate to Support> Service Centre> Transfer shares, follow the prompts and select your Margin Loan account.
Email/Fax:
If your shares are Issuer Sponsored, we will require a copy of your most recent Issuer Sponsored Statement and a covering letter with details of your Margin Loan and the number of units you would like transferred. You can scan and email your request to marginloan@commsec.com.au or fax it to 1300 369 526.
If the shares are held with another broker please complete a Broker to Broker Transfer Form. You can obtain this form by logging in and navigating to Support > Forms & Brochures > Margin Lending > Transfer of holdings FROM another broker to CommSec form. Once you have completed the form, please either fax it to us on 1300 369 526 or scan it and email to marginloan@commsec.com.au.
We will endeavour to process each Transfer Request within 2 to 3 business days of receipt. Please check your Margin Loan holding to ensure the stocks and units transferred are correct.
